Seriously, charging University students up to an extra $262 a year for student services and activities EVEN IF WE DON’T EVEN USE IT!?!?!
CHARGING $18 MORE PER TONNE OF CARBON THAN ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD.
FUCK OFF, YOU GINGER MOLE
Frankly if the unis actually put that money towards the student societies I would be so happy.
MACMS could do Les Mis or Phantom *starts twitching*
I just really resent this way everyone seems to talk about our PM. There’s a level of nastiness behind every insult levelled at her which we haven’t seen at any previous PM. Howard’s government systematically destroyed funding for aboriginal communities, put racism back into the mainstream, flouted human rights conventions in regards to refugees and was overall evil, but insults levelled at Howard were still jovial, with a bit of humour. The way people talk about Gillard is disgusting - she’s a prime minister trying to negotiate a minority government and they are trying to take on what is an enormous environmental issue. We can’t ignore climate change (if Abbott had his way we would, but if Abbott had his way we’d all be catholic and women would be second class citizens and everyone would be white), it’s fucking important, and the fact that they are pushing the carbon tax is admirable. For a minority government they have gotten a fuckload done. No it’s not ideal, but these are tough decisions and they are the result of a lot of bargaining - it is far from “Gillard wants a tax so we’ll have one”.
I have some serious respect for our PM and the shitstorm she has had to face, and the fact that she’s getting something done about our carbon footprint is good. Maybe future governments can use it then to push a trading emissions scheme, but the groundwork will be there then for action against climate change.
Think about how you might talk about Gillard if she were a man. Just think carefully about it.
I’m Kiwi, I’ve dealt with female leaders before, it has nothing to do with the gender, whilst i understand what you’re saying, gender has no issue with me, personally i respect women more than men quite often. And not to be insulting or anything like that, but you may be forgetting that times are changing and you are probably more aware of the insults in your growing age of the politicians, as a person who has always been aware of politics and current events, there has always been varying criticism within each governments and it changes now with social media being stronger than ever.
I understand what the Govt is attempting to do with the Climate changes issues and such, however, how it is being dealt with is not satisfactory, there has not been an election for this particular mandate, Gillard came into power on a specific mandate that she would not initiate a carbon tax. I’m not saying that we should completely disregard climate change, (the issue is the lack of concrete evidence - recently they have down-scaled the future height of oceans from a 2 meter increase in ___ years to .8m increase. That’s a huge difference.
Yes Gillard has got a lot done, but she has not informed where the carbon tax is going, what initiatives have been put in place, nor thought it entirely through. (For every $9.90 a family is taxed for carbon tax they are refunded $10.20)
The insults are more serious because she is doing things that are directly affecting the people of Australia in which they have not voted on.
As for the Initial topic; Universities, the scheme has been created in which it will be unlikely that it will go to the right places, and will more likely than not go into the universities pockets.
A sad truth, but frankly, after revoking the 20% HECS discount to 10% in order to gain a budget surplus, as well as revoking our ability to claim tax on educational resources, ripping off Australia’s future educated workers, it’s just another fuck up on the governments behalf in my books.
Note: I do not get HECS at all, so I am not biased in any shape or form. It makes no logical sense to me, especially when they are often complaining about having to chase HECS debt. Reducing the incentive to pay it off make no sense.
All I have seen today is hate towards the feature Tumblr put out advertising connecting with users on Twitter and Facebook.
No point getting angry, Tumblr makes money off more users joining; I can understand the fixation Tumblr users have with their idyllic portrayals of “safe space” within the Tumblr community, but that time has long gone. If you look it up on Google, Tumblr is one of the most visited social websites in the world, especially on blogging platforms.
Tumblr isn’t going to listen to you and try to maintain the “fantasy” that is upheld on tumblr.
I mean, look at how often Justin Bieber appears on our dash… It’s something that we have to get used to.
Businesses need to make money, this is how Tumblr makes theirs.
all you talk about is fucking sex sex sex. How about not using girls for sex and objectifying them and have a relationship with someone instead of constantly ranting and glorifying objectification? You're a jerk. Get off your high horse.
Have you considered the fact that you know absolutely nothing about me.
I have had two long term relationships totaling almost 4 years.
Are you new to tumblr? It’s got everything from fanfics to sex, drugs and music etc.
I’m not objectifying, or anything in that sort, where do i say that women are objects in any fashion? I mainly hang out with girls and have done so for the majority of my life. I respect women.
If i’m glorifying anything it’s appreciating sexual activity as something that is healthy and perfectly natural.
You’re insulting me on anon. Without any form of evidence or knowledge of who I am.
