I’m blunt, narcissistic, sarcastic, and up front about my opinions. My brutal honesty may hurt you, but I will always say it how I see it. I will always show my immense concern for someone that I care for, always extending a hand when required.
I often revel in the fact that I can tell from a mere glance whether someone needs to talk, a hug, or just an ear to speak to. With complete modesty, I can safely say I understand people well; and I’m glad to help them.
I just people would reciprocate it.
I don’t care what the general consensus is, you can remain best friends with your ex. I still am very close friends with my ex, and yes, everyone instantly assumes that “I’m in love with her still” or “you’re just holding out for her”. No. That’s not it.
We broke up on mutual terms, and had no reason for our friendship to suffer for it. I do not understand why, if you break up on relatively good terms that the friendship has to end as well.
I consider her to be my closest friend, and myself as hers, yes it can sometimes be strained, but it can always be looked past.
Why be unhappy at someone you’ve loved when you can continue something as equally beautiful?
Because I haven’t done this in a while, I thought i should open it up a couple hours earlier…
For all those who don’t know what this is about… Secret Sunday is where you release the secrets you may be holding in, from that day, week or long term. Just for a chance to let go of the pressures that it entails. You may choose to be anonymous, or put your face to it, its entirely up to you. If you want advice, say so, generally i’ll give it anyway. I’ll give you what I think will be best for you.
This is just to show that you aren’t alone in the world, that you haven’t got absolutely no one to talk to. As well as knowing that someone else is fighting your struggles.
What have you got to lose but the weight on your shoulders?

…“Chris, you’ve won the bet.” Stammered Mel.
The three of us turned to look at her in shock.
“WHAT?”…
Charlotte slapped Chris.
Mel and I looked at her quizzically, “What was that for?” I asked, my confusion clearly showing on my face. Mel had resumed her calm yet thoughtful pose, sitting on the side of the couch with her chin on her knees and her arms wrapped around them.
“Felt like it..”
I laughed, uncertain of the situation that was unfolding.
“Well, we hate to leave you like this, but we have an appointment in the morning” Chris stretched, a smirk crossing his face, yet quickly disappeared as he saw Charlotte’s disapproving look. Charlotte turned to me winking as she grabbed up her purse and heels. Reaching for mel for a hug, i noticed she whispered something in her ear as Chris got up to shake my hand.
We ended up hugging, his usual strong hug, feeling my ribs squeeze to what felt like impossible lengths. “Proud of you buddy, don’t know what you did in there, but it worked, i can tell, we’ll talk soon”
As we saw them drive off down the street the orange indicator winked suggestively to us as they turned the corner.
Mel slumped over onto me, dead-weight. “I think i might have too much to drink” she giggled nervously.
She looked me in the eyes, clearly showing her able-bodiedness, yet holding more dignity than most would, a deep blue colouration something you could get lost in for hours on end.
“Come to bed” She said. Gesturing to follow whilst she struggled along the hallway.
“Its my bed, and my house missy…” I said, as i locked up the front door and switched the light off.
I turn round the corner, to find her already asleep, curled up, smiling. Her breathing steady and slow.
“You’re beautiful” I whispered, and kissed her goodnight.

So there we were, all sitting around the lounge, Chris and Charlotte, the newly paired couple sitting rather affectionately with Charlotte’s head on Chris’ lap whilst he stroked her long brown hair. Mel and I were on the other half of the long couch were attempting to play cards however, were being distracted by the Saturday Night Feature film on television.
“I don’t even know why i keep watching this,” I sighed, “Romantic Comedies are over-clichéd and repetitive with a large cast.”
Mel whacked me over the head, laughing her irresistible giggle, her eyes widening to their entrancing state. Chris and Charlotte roaring with laughter as i fell off the couch as Mel threw multiple cushions.
“Mel i’m sorry but i need another drink, and i’m gonna have to leave you with the married couple” Chuckling as i avoided another cushion aimed by Charlotte in mock anger at the insult.
“I’m not being left here, I’ll come with you, I could use a top up”. Mel laughed as Chris attempted to join the battleground.
We enter the kitchen chuckling to ourselves. Bumping into each other as we attempt to pass through the doorway together, slightly intoxicated by the nights drinks.
As i pour her a beer i hesitantly hold it in front of her, “Now, if i pass this to you, are you sure you won’t spill it all over me. Promise me.”
A mischievous grin emerging across her face. “It depends” she replies, taking the glass and placing it on the counter. Moving closer.
And placing her lips on mine. Sighing as she did so. Pulling her arms around her dragging me closer as i kissed her back.
Stopping as i begin to question her motives.
She shushes me, and as we move closer to kiss yet again, she whispers:
“Consider that my confession”

So here we were, sitting in my lounge of my penthouse in the city of the Gold Coast, a city on the eastern coast of Australia.
Enjoying a casual beer with the windows wide open to the fresh ocean breeze coming through, four good friends, beginning our lives in the world, open to opportunities, chances and stupid mistakes.
The four of us were relatively close, two of us, my closest and best friends, Chris and Mel.
Mel i had known for little over 5 years, meeting when i was 19 at a local bar.
She was carrying a round of beers for her and her friends, unfortunately tripping over discarded heels of a bruised and blistered individual seeking her painless fortune on the dance floor without them. That trip sent her flying into me, whilst talking to Chris, my longest and best friend. I’ll get to him in a moment. Mel whilst flying mid air managed to steer herself into the nearest object, me.
Her Arms flailing and the beer extending its reach to every stainable item of clothing possible in the vicinity found me. After multiple apologies from both Mel and myself, we began talking, but more on that memorable night later.
Chris, my longest and best friend, the same age as myself, 24. Meeting in grade 3 we were the two devilish children, inseparable in our escapades to create havoc. Making teaching unbearable for teachers. Chris is a singer of a local band named ‘Kings and Queens’, already holding one album which was rapidly spreading nationwide.
Charlotte, the third to make up our great group is a recent addition after dating Chris for two months, yet whilst she has slowly become a part of our group there is not a lot we, or i know at least about her past. All i know is she grew up locally on the coast with her mother. Now 25 with her exceedingly large and wondrous smile she brought an extroverted attitude to our group, despite her shrouded past.
Which leaves me, 24, unknown of my future, with no set path, whilst i had strong financial security due to an unexpected lottery win, however, i decided it was best to keep that win a secret, keeping me the same as any other, still pushing for survival and persual of happiness in both my job, and my future family, and friends.
My name is Charlie, this is my story.
