Movie Night
We sat on opposite sides of the couch, our socks touching each others, enough to know they were there.
The light from the television flickering, soft voices emerging from the speakers.
The characters; out of breath, hiding, revealing the previously hidden affection for each other, the final moments of their lives upon them as the murderer approached behind them, the violins in the background creating tension putting my hair on edge. Held in each others arms their eyes attempt to pierce the darkness, in a futile attempt to ensure their safety from harm.
The violin reaches its climatic point the shadow of the killer crossing the backs of the pair, oblivious to his intentions despite the messages that were yelled at the television by us.
The glint of the blade against the darkness, reflected off the light of a nearby street lamp, reaching the eyes of the now horrified, young girl. She turns at the last moment as the blade is brought down.
The room goes black.
I feel his foot move, his voice emerges from the darkness “What the…” A flash of light and a crack of thunder fills the room with vibrations, interrupting him before he could finish.
I jump with the vibrations, the lower half of my body swivelling off the couch, my feet seeking the floor to find their bearings; only to connect with the coffee table.
This time there were no claps of thunder to cover the words which should never have passed my lips: …“Shoot”.
“Emma!”
“What!?”
“I never thought I’d hear you say that!”
“You know, it’s a good thing my eyes have grown accustomed to the darkness…”
“Why’s that?”
“Because I can do this.” Laughing as I push him off the couch.

We walk along the cobbled roads, arms wrapped around each other, pulling ourselves closer in the cold evening air. No noise but the footsteps of each other amongst the occasional murmur of the cars wheels and engines as they pass us.
The rumble of thunder and the flash of lightning spreading across the sky like a white glowing whip, the worlds natural fireworks.
We crossed the street, avoiding a car that was oncoming without its lights on.
Here came the rain, pouring down, pattering against anything it came against.
The orange street lights flickered before going out briefly, the arms pulling me around and closer. His lips pressed against mine, as the world lit up.
With the lights to follow.

… “I suggest, that we spend the whole day in bed, and do absolutely nothing.”
“Absolutely nothing?” I offered in return.
“Yes, absolutely nothing” Kissing me fully on the lips and rolling me over.
And so we did….
No, i will not reveal what happened next, i’m sorry but my story isn’t always going to be absolutely everything is it now? It’s not like you missed out on much, like she said, absolutely nothing happened…
Where should i begin? Oh yes.
“You know,” she whispered, her hair lying in a pool splayed everywhere, a sense of placement amongst the mess. “I would never have expected this to happen”
I turn to look at her, a smile pulling across the edges of my mouth, “Are you suggesting something?” I jokingly suggest.
“Of course darling,” she winked, as she moved her hand up and down my arm, leaving a trail of shivers. “Now, can i suggest something else?”
I smile, stroking her long hair, letting it fall through my fingertips entranced by their movements as they wrapped themselves against the curves of my fingers. “I’m liking these suggestions, what would it entail?”
“A surprise, but you’ll have to trust me..” She said, “Get dressed, we’re going out..”
She moved under the covers, giving me a kiss as she walked into the next room, watching her leave, her hair falling onto her shoulders, i called out “This wasn’t the surprise i was hoping for, you do realise its late?”
Popping her head around the door, her shoulders and the nape of her neck visible, “Its only 7pm dear, its just darker than usual”
Sighing, i fell back onto bed, wishing to just remain where we had, shutting my eyes, in an attempt to gather what remains of energy i had in order to prepare myself for the nights activities, whatever they may be,
I detested not knowing what was coming, i was curious.
I thought i heard something, but kept my eyes shut anyway.
A kiss on my lips out of nowhere, my eyes bolting open, shocked, my vision surrounded in a circle of her hair, her eyes glimmering in the light reflected off the bedside table.
“No, i know what you’re thinking, that’s not it, now get up and get moving, or we’ll miss out!”
Leaving in the car 10 minutes later, i looked out to the shops as they passed by, the street lights above flickering across my face as we raced by, i wondered, just wondered, where i was going, and where this would take me.

So there we were, all sitting around the lounge, Chris and Charlotte, the newly paired couple sitting rather affectionately with Charlotte’s head on Chris’ lap whilst he stroked her long brown hair. Mel and I were on the other half of the long couch were attempting to play cards however, were being distracted by the Saturday Night Feature film on television.
“I don’t even know why i keep watching this,” I sighed, “Romantic Comedies are over-clichéd and repetitive with a large cast.”
Mel whacked me over the head, laughing her irresistible giggle, her eyes widening to their entrancing state. Chris and Charlotte roaring with laughter as i fell off the couch as Mel threw multiple cushions.
“Mel i’m sorry but i need another drink, and i’m gonna have to leave you with the married couple” Chuckling as i avoided another cushion aimed by Charlotte in mock anger at the insult.
“I’m not being left here, I’ll come with you, I could use a top up”. Mel laughed as Chris attempted to join the battleground.
We enter the kitchen chuckling to ourselves. Bumping into each other as we attempt to pass through the doorway together, slightly intoxicated by the nights drinks.
As i pour her a beer i hesitantly hold it in front of her, “Now, if i pass this to you, are you sure you won’t spill it all over me. Promise me.”
A mischievous grin emerging across her face. “It depends” she replies, taking the glass and placing it on the counter. Moving closer.
And placing her lips on mine. Sighing as she did so. Pulling her arms around her dragging me closer as i kissed her back.
Stopping as i begin to question her motives.
She shushes me, and as we move closer to kiss yet again, she whispers:
“Consider that my confession”

Awkward.
Staring at her long, pale legs, muscular & toned, yet not so much that it is unappealing.
Cute little freckles lining along the curve of her calf, different to any i had seen before, there was something different about her i thought to myself as i looked out the window as the world rushed by.
The train clattering as it always did over the wooden bollards and rails. The sky was an unusual colour today. I looked closer, seeing all the people at a local park, kids, laughing, happy unaware of the world and its troubles.
Gone.
In a blink, the train picking up pace now, unable to discern between the details on the outside, the only features visible was the sky and its constant unusual colouration.
I looked back to her, she was engrossed in a book. I was unable to read the title, wondering i edged closely, but subtly enough not to look nosy.
She noticed, one eyebrow perched higher than the other. smile forming around the edge of her lips. Her rosy cheeks filling with blood.
“Can i ask what you’re staring at?” she said, her amusement going.
I blushed feverishly, moving back hurriedly hitting my head on the wall behind me. She giggled nervously.
I sighed, she looked at me expectantly for an answer.
Thinking what to say next my mind starts racing, almost as quickly as the train.
She laughed and moved closer, clearly i was taking too long. She kissed me.
Wait, what? I hadn’t expected this!
A hand across my hip against my waist pocket and a kiss once more, the train slowing down to a halt. She pulled away, smiled and grabbed her bag and left.
Now i was confused.
I felt a bulge in my pocket as i raced to the door. That wasn’t there before.
A card with her number written across it.
I sat down, looking out the window once again. To see her long, freckled legs walk down the station stairs.

Dreaming
A sunset, a deep red sunset, shining against the clouds. Filling the sky with enormous rouge. We are relaxing, quietly, enjoying the moment on a hill in short deep green grass. The smell of lawn clippings in the air with a mixture of lavender and her soft scent of her favourite perfume. I look at her, analysing every small detail, absorbing it, her little perfections, an amazing person.
She laughs, her amazing laugh, so carefree, her hair flowing in the soft breeze, her eyes lit up with joy and happiness.
This is what it is like, love. This is what is like to know she’s the one.
The sun setting quickly, the hush hush hush of the waves sliding onto the sand below us.
The things i love.
I whisper sweet nothings, she giggles uncontrollably as my lips brush against her ears.
The sun now set, darkness, except for the lighthouse, continually pointing out the light within the darkness.
I can just see the small details of her face, she huddles closer for warmth.
I smile and pull her close.
Leaning in for the point of no return.
And that is what i dreamt of last night my dear.
She laughs, you’re such a romantic.
As she pulls me close.
