… “Consider that my confession”…
Our lips separated, a hush of breath emerging from her lips in satisfaction.
“Wow” was all she said.
“Yeah, definitely.. and i thought you only wanted a drink.” I laughed.
She laughed, her eyes looking up into mine, her hand moving her hair behind her ear tentatively, a sign of nervousness. Uncertain about her motives.
A call from the other room: “What are you two doing? Brewing the drinks or something?” Smiling, i grabbed her hands pulled her close and kissed her twice more. Pulling her into the lounge with drinks in our spare hands.
To see Chris and Charlotte looking at us expectantly, twittering to themselves, like 50 year old women would do should they hear the latest gossip.
A bead of sweat trickled across my forehead, i didn’t want them knowing not yet… Glancing across to Mel i could see the same thoughts in her eyes.
Hesitantly i asked a casual, yet curious. “What…”
Giggling Charlotte managed to emit a few words of an incomprehensible sentence.
To explain for her Chris managed to say under a tone of drunken yet humorous manner: “We placed a bet, out of the blue, on the likelihood of you two dating.” I said it was possible, yet Charlotte reckons it’ll never happen.”
Let the giggling resume, like two young teenage girls, too drunk to care, yet enough to lose all sense of their thought process.
One one side of the room, Charlotte and Chris, enjoying the hilarity of every little detail, whilst Mel and myself, standing looking at each other, desperate for one another, yet holding back for fear of the unknown.
“Chris, you’ve won the bet.” Stammered Mel.
The three of us turned to look at her in shock.
